John joined the Family Mortgage Team in 2016 and quickly fell in love with helping his clients find the ideal mortgage to suit their unique circumstances and achieve their personal financial goals. Having been directly impacted by the “Great Recession” in 2008, he has developed an educational system to empower his clients to make informed decisions regarding their real estate financing options. He encourages his clients to adopt a strategic mindset when evaluating their long-term housing goals by thinking beyond closing and reminding them that buying a home is not just a financial investment; it’s also an investment in their family’s future. Ranked in the Top 1% of residential mortgage loan originators in the U.S. in 2021, he continues to pursue professional growth and has recently become CDLP™ (Certified Divorce Lending Professional) certified by the Divorce Lending Association. When not working, John enjoys traveling to new places and he is currently planning to explore Iceland next.
Scott Evans
Partner, Senior Vice President of Production
A native of Buffalo, NY, Scott attended the University of Buffalo and later followed his passion of skiing the Rockies to Colorado where he pursued his studies at The University of Colorado in Boulder. In 1989, Scott relocated to Atlanta to continue his career in commercial real estate asset management and worked with banks, life insurance companies and private investors managing commercial office buildings. Ten years later—after winning the coveted TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) International award multiple years– Scott established his mortgage company, The Family Mortgage Team of Georgia, based on a desire to assist people in one of the biggest investment decisions of their lives. He continues to further enhance his knowledge and expertise and has achieved several professional designations, including: CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Manager); CRMS (Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist) from the National Association of Mortgage Brokers; and then finally, CDLP™ (Certified Divorce Lending Professional) from the Divorce Lending Association.
Jeanne Evans
Branch Operations Manager
Jeanne joined Family Mortgage in 2001 to assist Scott with his fast growing company during a major refinance “boom.” Within months her role grew to encompass office operations, marketing, accounting and HR. As a result, her “temporary job to help her husband out” became an opportunity to utilize her vast business background in commercial real estate, accounting and office management to create her new career in the mortgage industry, where she now happily serves as the LeaderOne Financial Corporation’s Georgia Branch Marketing Director and Business Development Specialist for The Family Mortgage Team. She also serves as Editor of “Family Secrets;” the Team Cheerleader… and her husband’s biggest fan.
Ashley Held

Ashley graduated from Georgia State University in 2007 with a degree in Communications. She joined The Family Mortgage Team in February 2020 and has a background in Marketing & Advertising. Her focus on your satisfaction is a top priority from the moment you contact our office. She also manages our website, CRM, advertising, and social media so we can continue to stay connected and top-of-mind. Ashley is a Georgia-native and loves spending time with her husband and her toy aussie. She also enjoys playing competitive soccer, watching LSU football, movies, and fishing on Lake Lanier.

Katrina brings over 25 years of experience, leadership, and dedication to helping clients navigate the home financing process with confidence. Throughout her career, she has held roles as a mortgage broker, led high-performing teams, and even owned and operated a successful mortgage processing company. This diverse background gives her a unique perspective and a deep understanding of every step in the mortgage journey. As a Loan Partner at The Family Mortgage Team, Katrina is committed to delivering personalized service, clear communication, and tailored solutions to meet each client’s needs. Her passion for helping families achieve their homeownership goals is matched only by her commitment to making the process smooth and stress-free. Outside of work, Katrina is a proud wife, mom of four, and a joyful Nonnie to her first grandson. She enjoys staying active through regular workouts, cheering on her kids as a dedicated baseball mom, and expressing her creativity through crafting.
